Carol is a very experienced Clinician, having started her career as a Registered Nurse and Midwife at Liverpool Hospital (Sydney). Since then, Carol has completed further study in Addiction, Mental Health, Liver Disease (Hepatitis) and Nursing. Carol’s academic work has been published in an international medical journal and she has been invited to present at numerous conferences and training courses.
Carol is a Nurse Practitioner and a credentialed member of the Drug and Alcohol Nurses of Australia (DANA – CDAN). As a Nurse Practitioner, Carol is registered to prescribe under the Queensland Opioid Treatment Program (QOTP – methadone, Suboxone®).
Over the course of her career, Carol has had opportunity to practice throughout Australia (Sydney, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Darwin), as well as in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Of note, Carol was part of the team who established the first ever Drug and Alcohol service in the UAE. Carol identifies this as a tremendous experience in her career, working with some of the world’s leading Clinician’s from The Maudsley Hospital UK to establish a new health service.
These professional experiences have been invaluable in shaping Carol to be the Clinician she is today. As an example, Carol’s is well aware of the impact that culture can have on an individual’s care. As a result, Carol provides care with cultural integrity and sensitivity.
Carol works holistically with her patients to achieve better health. She has a special interest in Addiction Medicine, Mental Health and Pregnancy care for her clients.
